The Virginia Microscope Training Center

About Virginia Microscope Training

The Virginia Microscope Training Center is a more formal name to the training center that I established seven years ago in Charlottesville. The training courses were a response to a request from a Global Surgical Sales Representative, Nick Forster, who desired a training course on the east coast of the US that would be easier to get east coast doctors to attend.

After taking the training course offered at the Newport Coast Orofacial Institute, I decided to make training course that incorporated the elements established by Dr. Rick Schmidt and Dr. Martin Boudro and add items that I thought were essential in getting doctors to utilize their surgical microscopes for nearly 100% of their procedures. This included the deliberate use of mannequins mounted to regular dental chairs in a normal operatory and utilizing regular surgical microscopes outfitted as they need to be for ideal restorative/periodontal/endodontic use. This is different than other centers that use laboratory settings and limited arm motion of the laboratory microscopes for training. The incorporation of regular clinical operatories allow the attendees to gain the knowledge necessary to use their microscope in all four quadrants of the mouth the following Monday morning.

The atmosphere is casual, but the learning is intense! Be prepared to be tired and stimulated at the end of each day of the training session.
